As 2019 draws to a close, Merridale are celebrating what has been their 25th year as a business.
MIS Fuel Monitoring Ltd was formed in 1994 and shortly after launched a new range of fuel systems, known as Auditor, as well as the Merridale FuelFX package – the industry’s first fuel management software truly based on the Windows operating system. Having been previously known as Merridale Industrial Services, the new company was formed to reflect the company’s focus on fuel monitoring.
They continued to operate under that name until 2017, when the registered name of Merridale Ltd finally became available. With Merridale now a brand name known and trusted by fleet operators nationwide, taking the opportunity to operate under the new streamlined name was an easy choice to make.
Any of Merridale’s successes can be put down to the great team we have. The equipment has changed vastly and been improved to make it the best on the market, but it is also everyone involved…

Throughout these advancements and changes, the company values have remained the same. They believe in striving for perfection and never compromising on quality. Merridale continue to ensure that their hardware and software doesn’t just work but is also reliable, accurate, built to last and meets the requirements of all fleet owners. These principles have helped Merridale to achieve one of their best financial years to date.
At the heart of Merridale’s success is their close-knit team of loyal staff. Most of who are involved with the company have been so for over 10 years, with some also exceeding two decades of service.
Sales engineer John Browne, who has been a part of the sales team since 2007, was full of praise for everyone involved.
“Any of Merridale’s successes can be put down to the great team we have. The equipment has changed vastly and been improved to make it the best on the market, but it is also everyone involved from the dedicated support team, the engineers and production team, and the sales team that makes us one of the best.”
“In my opinion, the hard work and dedication flows down from the top. The directors have been instrumental in the development of the company. John Russell is outstanding in his attention to detail and how he cares about the customers. Our job in sales is then made easier by Paul Ledbury’s high standard of work and innovative ideas with our FuelWorks software and other systems.”
With all Merridale products designed to achieve a minimum life of 10 years and meeting strict ATEX standards, there is no compromise on build quality. Merridale refuse to use cheaply made, counterfeit or recommissioned parts, instead sourcing the highest quality possible from trusted manufacturers.
Merridale systems are now installed at over 4,000 sites across the UK, Ireland, Channel Islands, Europe and not forgetting Nepal and The Falkland Islands. They are trusted by some of the UK’s biggest fleet operators, some of which have continued to use Merridale for over 20 years.
When discussing the reasons why Merridale have been trusted by thousands of fleet operators for many years, sales engineer Paul Russell said, “Merridale have invested a substantial effort into the design and development of new products, whilst also updating and improving the existing range of products in order to stay ahead of the marketplace. Coupled with the continued and unrivalled support that we offer across our existing customer base, this has allowed Merridale to build and expand even further on their great reputation.”
