Experts in waste management, Baco-Compak, have recently opted to move away from paperwork for monitoring their fleet and transition into digital reporting using Merridale’s FuelWorks.
Before the move, they relied only on handwritten accounts of their fuel usage to track and report on their fleet of tankers, rear-end loaders, and articulated lorries.
With our company having so many different branches and sectors all operating under the same fleet, Merridale’s FuelWorks has made it simple to cross-reference and run reports on specific areas.
The Kings Lynn-based family-run business has over 40 years of experience in waste disposal and provides a range of waste collection services across West Norfolk, including to Her Majesty The Queen’s Royal Estate.
As part of the upgrade, which included a Merridale MX-T tank management system and a Merridale MX-I fuel pump with an integrated fuel management system, Baco chose to use Merridale’s web-based software, FuelWorks, to work in conjunction with these systems. With this, users can access data from any device connected to the internet and export reports as spreadsheets if required. FuelWorks gives the user complete flexibility and accessibility, eliminating the need for the software to be installed on a limited number of nominated devices.
When asked about Baco’s transition to FuelWorks, Sue Worley, who oversees the day-to-day running of the fleet said “We initially wanted a system to help prevent fuel theft and allow us to spot irregularities, but it allows us to do so much more. After a short training session on how to use FuelWorks and once all the drivers were set up with their new fobs, we were confident and ready to go. I was surprised at how quick and easy I found it to learn the new software.”
FuelWorks allows multiple users to report on and monitor their environmental impact, fuel usage, costs, and vehicle performance across multiple sites or tanks. Reports can be fully customised and scheduled to be sent directly to your inbox. It also has the capability to monitor tank levels and predict low stock, with email alerts being sent in such events.
“With our company having so many different branches and sectors all operating under the same fleet, Merridale’s FuelWorks has made it simple to cross-reference and run reports on specific areas. Previously, we had bits of paper passed between departments and would have to input the data into spreadsheets and do some workings out yourself. That could sometimes take a while, whereas now it’s done for you at the click of a button.”
