A leading Birmingham-based transport and warehousing company has credited Merridale’s fuel management system for its usability when reflecting on its transition to the new system.
Lions Logistics have been using Merridale’s equipment and software since upgrading their systems in October this year. Their existing tank was in good enough condition to continue to use but their pump left them unable to restrict who could use it or gather any data on stock or usage.
“In the short amount of time we have had the software, we have already noticed a difference. Fuel spend is better and we can identify high-usage areas and customers, this helps us to account for every litre of fuel purchased. The whole system is so simple to use, I’ve found it to be brilliant so far and there are features I’ve still not used.” Explained a Lions representative.

As part of the upgrade, which included a Merridale MX-I fuel pump with an integrated fuel management system and an MX-T tank management system. Lions also chose to use Merridale’s web-based software FuelWorks. With this, users can access data from any device connected to the internet and export reports as spreadsheets if required.
FuelWorks has become increasingly popular with Merridale’s current customers. Due to its ability to be accessed through a web browser on any device FuelWorks gives the user complete flexibility and accessibility, eliminating the need for the software to be installed on a limited number of nominated devices.
FuelWorks allows multiple users to report on and monitor their environmental impact, fuel usage, costs, and vehicle performance across multiple sites or tanks. It also has the capability to monitor tank levels and predict low stock, with email alerts being sent in such events.
“With the initial training and help of the support team you become familiar with Merridale’s FuelWorks software very quickly and it becomes simple to use. Support was the key, the help desk phoneline was a great help. Now FuelWorks is my first port of call in the morning, it is something I monitor every day.”
